2003 September 21: posted a new story, His Name Was Mac Fantasy fiction about homeless person. Contains references to vulgar parts of the body and socially unacceptable actions ... adults only, thank you! (Ifanykids happen upon this nasty story by accident, please understand that homeless people are just a figment of the author's hallucinating imagination. They don't really exist. It wouldn't be allowed. The big bad world isn't really that bad.)
2003 September 21: posted a new poem, Pregnancy Poem. Plus some words about how the poem came to be written - a brief meditation on the body of flesh and blood.
2003 September 21: posted a rather dutiful poem from 1977 about the wonders of the whale - poem titled The Whale. The file contains a link to a prose piece (rather more interesting than the poem) about actually eating a whale.
2003 September 20: Toward Ten O'Clock - very slight poem about urban life first published 1976. Also, a somewhat longer poem from the poet's teenage years, Dreams of Lothlorien - again, a poem of urban life.
2003 September 15: fantasy fiction story: The Dragon Zenphos. Featuring (amongst other things) a dragon. Not yet dead. But the dragon, really, is only a small part of the problem.
2003 September 14: new fiction story: The Orc's Armpit. Hardcore horror fiction story, mature content, suitable adults only.
2003 September 13: the latest thing on the website is Blogging in Hell, about what it's like to live in Hell. (Not as bad as you might think, these days, since Hell's main aim has now been adjusted - officially, at least - from punishment to productivity.)
2003 August 21: Wrote a diary entry about how I discovered the world of armpit fiction ... and added my own armpit story to the site, this story being called HARRIET'S ARMPIT.
2003 August 17: Added a couple more sections of the travel book that I wrote back in 1992, originally called TRAVELS IN JAPAN. The new sections are A TOURIST'S JAPANESE, JAPAN: FIRST IMPRESSIONS and JAPANESE PICTURE WRITING. Also added the science fiction robot dog story GOLGO MOLGO and the alien invasion flash fiction PERFECTLY ADJUSTED. Also added a rifle range poem called A MANTRA.
2003 August 09: Added a new sf flash fiction called THE DOOM OF THE ASTERISKS. Also added a flash fiction called THE VOORSOORIAN BRAIN VIRUS.
2003 August 05: Added a new flash fiction, After My Sister Was Raped
2003 August 03: Added The Naked Succubus Sex Slave Murders - a crime story. Inspector Stremalon, who is a member of the police force which serves the city of Krantankertus, the Iron City which is the Seat of Order in the sphere of existence known as Torture Mungus, decides to solve the problem of the naked succubus sex slave murders by throwing it open to the public. This Inspector Stremalon story is a sex crimes fantasy story. As the title might suggest, this story is suitable for adults only.
2003 July 27: Added a surreal poem called This Working Life. Also posted a dada poem called I Am A Television Set. Also a poem born of a troubled dream, Poised Between Limbo And Guantanamo. Also a poem called Sun Poem.
2003 July 21: Added a poem Petition for a Flat Earth. Also added a very short story, The Triumph of Japanese English.
2003 July 19: Added a poem called Tonga - a poem which, as much as anything, is about my first adult encounter with the Third World. This poem dates from the 1970s. I also added a poem called Snails which is about snails. Snails have the distinction of being one of the few things which I can draw.
2003 July 18: Added a poem that I first had published back in 1976, a piece called Wide Windows - a very simple piece about getting up in the morning, making tea. Also added a hypochondria poem called "The Face Fearful," again from 1976. And, once again from 1976, the poem Monsoon. Also added Coming Into Harbour, which is a meditation on the death of my maternal grandfather.
2003 July 13: I haven't done any work on my creative writing section for some time. Today, I realized that my characters page was shamefully skimpy so rewrote it to beef it up - this page is about how to create and use characters in fiction, and now it shows how an impulse criminal called Ratbag Chops might interact with his police officer girlfriend Charlotte and a coldly controlled mastermind criminal called, perhaps, Mike.
2003 July 05: added a new poem A Fireman Writes. Also added a prisoners-of-aliens SF story "The Angel of the Seventh Apocalypse".
2003 July 03: I've been pretty busy recently, but my job requires me to spend a certain amount of time sitting on trains, traveling from place to place, so I've been able to do some work on the travel book which I wrote back in 1992, a work originally titled TRAVELS IN JAPAN. I've now edited a piece called Eating the Whale and have added it to this website. (It's about breaching taboo by eating part of a whale.) To complement this, I've added a photo of whale meat which I took in May of 2003 - the whale meat was on sale in Tokyo's Tsukiji fish market.
2003 June 26: added a few brief notes about writing poetry.
2003 June 26: added a little "essay about Japan" piece called A GYOZA RESTAURANT. I recently (unexpectedly) found the text of an entire travel book about Japan which I wrote back in 1992. This came as a surprise because I'd totally forgotten writing any such thing. It's pretty mundane (author eats gyoza, etc) but, even so, I've decided to put it online in the form of a series of short essays, supplementing the perceptions of 1992 with those of 2003.
2003 June 26: added the Japanese hiragana alphabet - part of an ongoing Japanese-language study project.
2003 July 02: added a flashfiction called UNDER THE ALIEN YOKE
2003 June 26: added a flashfiction called GETGO AND MAGGLES GIRL
2003 June 22: added a short short surreal prose poem called NINE STEPS TO CALIFORNIA.
2003 June 22: added a new travel story called Too Far from Home. This is about traveling to (and maybe across) the boundaries of reality. The setting is India.
2003 June 20: added a new SF story called THE WRATH OF BABRIL HESTEK
2003 June 19: added a flash fiction called FREE TRADE
2003 June 18: added a flash fiction called BLUEBEARD'S MAIL.
2003 June 17: added a flash fiction called INDUSTRIAL DESIGN.
2003 June 16: added some scraps, fragments, detritus, garbage, partial drafts, incomplete notes, plans and schemes left over from the chaos of creation involving in creating the ten-volume CHRONICLES OF AN AGE OF DARKNESS series. By popular demand, as they say. Over the last year or so I've had a number of e-mails from various hardcore CHRONICLES fans asking if any of this kind of material existed, and, if so, could they see it. Well, here's what I've got for now (more later, possibly) set out in the table below:-
