In May 2005 my focus is very much on poetry, with two new poems posted on 2005 May 21 Saturday: a poem about surviving cancer, this poem being called Survivorhood, and a poem about mortality called Celebration.
Appearing on the web for the first time on 2005 May 21 Saturday, a poem from a previous century. Way back in 1979 I published this poem, my first cancer poem, written at the age of 22. It's of interest to me now, in the early months of 2005, to compare my remote imaginary engagement with the cancer theme with my actual 2005 experience of being treated for cancer. I've written about this at a little more length in the notes which go with the poem, Showtime.
New poems! 2005 May 07 Saturday: a meteor poem called Arc of Light. Also a poem about the ceremony which recalls the nuclear bombing of Hiroshima and a poem about the nuclear bombing of Nagasaki.
Also on 2005 May 7 Saturday added a simple poem about fishing called Out Fishing.
Also on 2005 May 7 Saturday added a poem about radio static called Dragon Tale.
Also added a very simple cat poem called Sphinx Child.
Also added a mortality poem called The Precious Moments of my Mortal Life.
Tackled an area of human experience shamefully neglected by the corpus of English literature and on 2005 May 7 Saturday added the result, a poem about constipation called constipation.
On 2005 May 06 Friday uploaded a science fiction security screening story, Eating Jesus Christ.
New as of 2005 May 1 Sunday: added some thoughts on poetry in files about poetry definitions, analyzing poetry and writing poetry.
Added a cryptic poem on 2005 April 12 Friday, Cryptic (an example of literary irresponsibility at play) and on 2005 May 7 Saturday added a (similarly irresponsible) poem called Hallucinations.
On 2005 April 28 Thursday added a very short poem called Orgasm.
On 2005 April 27 Wednesday added a short poem about receiving chemotherapy with a substance called methotrexate. The poem is, logically enough, called Methotrexate.
Added two cancer poems on 2005 April 15 Friday, Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy.
Added poem In the Ruins of my Collapsed Life on 2005 April 1 Friday.
In March 2005 author Hugh Cook is undergoing treatment for cancer so, naturally enough, his contribution to the Easter season is a fantasy horror story about cancer, Metastasis. First posted online on 2005 March 25 Friday.
A new year, huh? 2005! Posted a story Invasion of the Chickens, an invasion story featuring Vorn the Gladiator. Posted this online on 2005 January 8 Saturday.
